Meluinen Defender - Emeridir of Gladden
No lore or character narrative today, but I have a bit of an odd story to share with my fellow cosmetic audience. This outfit was created under some random, real world circumstances. Anyway... : )
Autumn, my favorite season, is finally here and I've been considering some sort of autumn-themed outfit series for this blog. The leaves are finally turning where I live. Sometimes, I like to gaze out my window at the symphony of colors or sit outside in the crisp air, observing nature for inspiration. There are many beautiful shades of reds, oranges, and yellows that will eventually dull and turn brown. I guess I was thinking so much about the end of the season that I settled on brownish core colors and then incorporated some dull golds and dark oranges to compliment them. This may not be as cheerful a costume as I had hoped, but I wanted to fool around with the earthy shades provided in-game. The wonderful thing is that I didn't have to go out of my way to barter for any of these pieces...they've all been sitting in storage for the longest time unused.
Once I had pieced this outfit together, I tried to think of some functionality for it. The browning leaves were still in the back of my mind as I tried to brainstorm. Eventually, my thoughts drifted and I started wondering what's been hiding underneath the layers of leaves in the woods across my street when BAM! It hit me. Camouflage! I haven't done anything with that yet. It took hours of searching to find a place in LOTRO that fit my random vision for this outfit. Even though some of the color matches are slightly off, the Meluinen south of Esteldin was the perfect place for this. My hunter blended in very well against the ruins, trees, and murky waters wearing this.
Oh, creative process...how wonderfully insane you can be at times : )

Very nice, I like how you've found similar pale rusty greens in the leggings, chest piece and on the hem of the hood! It gives the impression of summer just shading into autumn. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! That rusty green made this outfit particularly difficult to put together. In certain light, the colors in the three pieces you mentioned are virtually indistinguishable. I had a lot of fun making this, even though I tend to avoid the real earthy colors. Sometimes, they can be either too rich or too neutral : )
DeleteThat's actually a good looking breastplate on an elf. I feel like my man characters are turtles poking head & limbs out of a shell when I wear that.
ReplyDeleteI think the gloves are really great for autumn colors, and the fur (which usually sticks out) blends in this outfit.
Also, those are Guard leggings.
Thanks for pointing out that typo...I was probably looking at cappy legs in-game while typing this entry. I've started to take a liking to the Ost Dunhoth sets lately. Furs and heavy armor for the most part, though I feel they're more Lossoth than Dunlending in appearance. And as for those gloves, I noticed the small patch of fur as well while making this. It gets lost in the colors of this outfit and you don't notice it unless you're really zoomed in : )
DeleteReally great outfit. I love the autumn colors :)
