Feathered Scholar - Cirilyn of Gladden
Hopefully this will be my last swan-themed outfit. I've released one every week for the past four Saturdays and I wouldn't be surprised if you're wanting to see something else (I know I am). Turkey Day has come and gone for me and I would have very much liked to make a turkey-themed ensemble...but somehow it wouldn't feel quite lore appropriate, would it? I don't think turkeys even exist in Middle-earth! I hope those of you who celebrated the holiday enjoyed yourselves fully!
Aaaaand back to the outfit...
It's uncommon for me to find a place in LOTRO that sets the soul on fire. The first time I set foot in the Library of Saphadzîr in Dol Amroth, I immediately fell in love. My real life passion for knowledge and literature rapidly rose to the surface. (For those of you who don't know, it's my dream to earn my master's degree in Library and Information Sciences once my undergrad loans have been paid.) I explored every nook and cranny on both floors, taking in the atmosphere while pondering the appropriate garb for a Dol Amroth scholar. I hadn't used the Light Nadhin Robe yet, and I knew it had to be a part of it.
For a couple weeks, I didn't know quite what to do with the Light Nadhin Robe. I'd tried all sorts of colors, but none other than the default white seemed to work. Other dyes might have worked if the white areas underlining the scales didn't change with the rest of the robe. This even has a white glossy base, making any color applied to it look watered down. I tried to complete the joke cosmetic challenge from one of Cithryth's livestream videos to make a pink Swan Knight that could be taken seriously, but to no avail. Even rose looked like a very light carnation pink. In the end, I stuck with colors close to indigo. Working with undyeable areas is equally important, after all!
Head: Lore-keeper's Hat (Violet, skirm camp classic vendor, level 65 light Barad Guldur armor)
Shoulders: Supple Wildermore Shoulderpads of Tactics (Indigo, T8 Tailor Wildermore recipe, guilded or bartered)
Chest: Light Nadhin Robe (White, Dol Amroth light armor vendor or post-50 world drop)
Hands: Dunlending Caretaker's Patched Bracers (Indigo, Dunland quest reward)**
Feet: Stout Padded Shoes (Indigo, T1 Tailor recipe)
**Skin is also available in Lalia's Market at time of posting. Also, this piece isn't necessary...I just like using it for the aesthetic value.

This is absolutely gorgeous. All the colors flow together so smoothly. Our loves of literature seem go hand in hand. There is a library up in the mountains in Enedwaith, in the region of Thror's Coomb, that I fell in love with the first time I stepped foot in it. I've actually gone back multiple times now, and it seems to fuel my bookish fire every time I go back.
ReplyDeleteSome other great places for libraries are in the Hytbold and Eaves of Fangorn crafting resource instances. Personally, I like the Fangorn one better :)
DeleteIf I find a place with books, especially one I can explore, I find it hard to leave. It's one of those environments that inspires me to create outfits like this.
I absolutely adore the Library of Saphadzîr. Some of my favorite places to hang out in Middle-Earth are scholarly places - Elrond's house, parts of Moria, the Mathom Society. I take all of my recipes, tomes and whatnot into those places and just read and roleplay away. There's no better place for it ;) this outfit is awesome, by the way. I myself finally found the robe after obtaining the Nadhin shoulder pieces a few weeks ago.
ReplyDeleteThank you! In the short time I've been using this outfit, it's certainly grown on me. Also, you've named more of my favorite places :) I'd use Elrond's Library, and perhaps the Last Homely House for screenshots, more frequently if the lighting weren't so poor. Even then, I like to just park my characters there and listen to the music or watch various celebrations happen!
DeleteI love it! Especially the hat and the shoulders together. The little swirly designs on both of them tie them together so nicely. And I like how you used those old shoes to bring in the same brown leather strap look that the shoulders have. Well done! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Starry! Sorry for the late response...your reply got buried in my blog's email. Coordinating those patterns had been the hardest part. The design of the robe was so overpowering that I couldn't just shoehorn in any old piece. I had a couple of other ideas for this themed outfit, but none of them had the balance this had.
