Into the Blue - Andalost of Gladden
This is the second week in a row that I've encountered a lack of inspiration while browsing the vast catalog of cosmetics filling my wardrobe and the vaults of multiple characters. There was no particular idea behind this outfit. It was a random convergence of gold-trimmed and light armored pieces that unexpectedly matched. I didn't bother to check how it appears on other races, as I think most of us LOTRO fashionistas know how notorious shoulders are regarding shape, size, clipping, and placement between the races. I'd imagine this works well for elves and men, as well as the Minstrel, Lore-master, and the Rune-keeper classes. It has almost a mystical element to it.
Perhaps I should have renamed this outfit "Out of the Blue"...
The Songmaster's Shoes (or the equivalent piece from Caras Galadhon trainers) have finally made their debut on this blog after owning them for three years. I've never quite found an ideal match for the dyeable bird patterns they feature. Even in this outfit, they don't have any particular function other than relating, by color and accent, to the rest of the pieces. Neither do they feel shoehorned into the outfit. They simply look, well...good! Or maybe it's just the bright light of Evendim that makes them seem that way!
Speaking of screenshots, taking pictures of outfits on my lowbie characters has become increasingly difficult over the past year and a half. When Helm's Deep was released, the trait trees removed many skills from my quickbars, resulting in a loss of available combat animations. On top of that, to actually hold a weapon in hand requires combat, unlike the old days where a character would actually use their weapon in an out-of-combat animation. Blade-wall and staff-sweep, for example used to involve the swing of the appropriate weapons regardless of combat. Now you see an empty hand move across the screen. Maybe, one day, this visual bug will be corrected.

Brilliant outfit! The swirly pattern on the chestpiece looks so good with the outline of feathers on the boots. He looks very Gondorian to me. :)
ReplyDeleteAlso, I so agree with how difficult it's become to take screenshots with good dynamic poses, for all the reasons you mention. I've bugged this several times and brought it up on the forums as well. It seems to be a very persistent bug. I really hope it gets fixed soon!
Thank you, Starry! It wouldn't have occurred to me that this can be a Gondorian outfit. Perhaps I could find alternative shoulders to make it feel even more like one, as they are a bit Elvish in appearance. Either way, I do like this as it is :)
