Verdant Grace
Quite often I repurpose slotted or old outfits. A splash of a different color, the exchange of at least one piece...that's all it's taken to transform an old character appearances into something new, fresh, and exciting. I've always been surprised how a subtle change in color, either in tint, shade, or tone, has altered the concept and emotion of an outfit. For those that have regularly visited Material Middle-earth, this particular clothing combination should look familiar. It's mostly a recolor of Silvan Elegance, which was posted in February 2018, almost a year from today.
There was another reason to repurposing this appearance. I wanted to give the Soaring Great Sword of the Depths a chance to shine. Silvan Elegance provided the elvish base design and the sword had the complimenting golden embellishments. All I had to do was use bullroarer green to match it! In fact, it's one of the last remaining weapons in my inventory to have an entire outfit devoted to it.
I'll admit that weapon-centric outfits have been a fun and unique approach. It's been a major driving force behind much of this past year's content. Part of that drive has was also fueled by the Cosmetic Weapons Project. As stressing as it was to complete the project's first phase, I'd never have encountered weapons like these. It turned out to be a blessing.
Who'd have thought that this once unused ten-year-old weapon skin would be introduced through the store? I occasionally wonder if that project was the catalyst. Some of the unused weapons I had posted on this blog and shared on the forums, made their way into the Soaring Depths, Khazad-Dum Vaults, and Storied Past sets. Honestly, I've been content letting the answer remain a mystery.
Shoulders: Shoulders of the Lady's Grace (White, Caras Galadhon Minstrel class vendor)**
Back: Mallorn Cloak (Bullroarer's green, LOTRO Store)***
Chest: Elven Campaigner's Armor (Bullroarer's green, T5 Tailor recipe)***
Legs: Elven Campaigner's Leggings (Bullroarer's green, T5 Tailor recipe)***
Hands: Gloves of the Lady's Grace (White, Caras Galadhon Minstrel class vendor)
Feet: Shoes of the Lady's Grace (White, Caras Galadhon Minstrel class vendor)**
Main hand: Soaring Great Sword of the Depths (LOTRO Store skin that appears randomly for limited periods of time)
**If you own the Mirkwood expansion, these skins can also be bartered from the Minstrel class vendor in Ost Galadh for a handful of medallions. A great alternative to running Dar Narbugud for the requisite elf-stones.
***Dark green makes a great alternative if using bullroarer's green isn't possible. Dark green, despite what the name suggests, is ever so slightly darker.
