Mithril Guard - Andalost of Gladden

I nearly forgot that I had this pre-order cosmetic from Mines of Moria. It's an interesting piece, the Hauberk of the Mithril Guard, because of it's heavy blue base color. You can dye it yellow and it'll appear green, very much like rose will give you a brilliant purple. This makes it a royal pain to coordinate with other pieces. You'll generally have two options with this hauberk--use dark colors for the entire outfit (blues are easiest) or dye the robe the color of your choice and forego most of the ability to accessorize it. Either way, it makes an amazing base for Moria gear and any gold-accented piece.

Recalling correctly (it's been well over a year since I did this), there was a way to get this pre-order cosmetic for free. I don't know if it still works, but follow this link to the LOTRO Forums and carefully follow the instructions there. If all goes well, you'll get a redeemable code for this. According to the forum thread, this was last done in March 2013 (I wrote this post in October and left it for autopublishing). Please respond on the same thread to let everybody else know either way! If it doesn't work, the only way left is to get your hands on the elusive Mines of Moria pre-order expansion key. I wish you well if you're trying this!

I've yet to work on a dwarf and this outfit is definitely dwarfish...maybe I'll see how this looks on my dwarven storage mule. : )

By the way, can anybody confirm if Brosh's Cloak or it's cosmetic equivalent still drops in the game? With the changes to instance loot drops that came with Helm's Deep, many pieces have disappeared. This could be an extremely rare cosmetic. If this hold true, it might only make a future appearance at Lalia's Market.

  1. Ah, this is quite lovely! I absolutely adore those shoulder guards! Sometimes those certain pieces that dye weirdly can be such a hard piece to work with - but I absolutely love how this turned out! A job well done, as usual :)

    1. Thank you, Makaia. When you get one of those oddball pieces that dyes kinda funky, I've found it easier to make it the focus piece of the outfit versus squeezing it in with pieces that are already working well together : )
