2014 Anniversary Festival Rewards & Steed

Beautifully themed pattern this year...except that we have another robe. I'm feeling a little let down again regarding festival cosmetics, as all we saw last year were robes, robes, robes, and, you guessed it, robes. I was hoping that we'd be seeing new dresses and tunics this year, as those are far easier to accommodate cosmetically in our outfits. What's done is done, and there no sense in me getting all huffy and puffy over these. I'm already well on my way to collecting these pieces of gear!

...and can we talk about the beauty of the latest tablecloth steed?

Beneath each picture is the name of the piece and it's respective token cost. The far right screenshot in each cosmetic set is dyed red to reveal the dyeable potions.

  1. Really? Another ugly robe, cloak, and tablecloth horse? Not even an ugly dress or tunic to go with it? I hope this doesn't set the precedent for the next festivals to come. I thought every cosmetic enthusiast had ripped out enough hair out by now for turbine to take a hint.
    Oh well.

    1. To quote Mary Lazarus from Sister Act, I have a feeling we'd all have to be "bald and yowling in despair" to get new dresses and tunics. And I think at this point, there's no hair left to rip out. Last year, only the Spring Festival had new non-robe cosmetics and I'm hoping it's going to break that cycle this year. I'd hate to see another "Year of the Robes" for 2014.

    2. I sincerely hope so. Last year was so... boring. They don't even look that good. Changing the texture and adding a new print doesn't change the fact it's an ugly base.

  2. B R C, blanket, robe and cloak combo! XD sadly it is the old robe again, but I think this time the nice pattern mitigates the bad shape of the cosmetics, they have a gondorian feeling, with the seven stars :)

    1. The seven stars pattern is arguably my favorite motif in the game. Usually I stand in awe at the pattern whenever I discover it in the ruins scattered across the landscape...and now I can take them with me wherever I go! : )

    1. The steed is the picture you see there, which is for the basic traveling mount. The caparison is the "blanket" being worn and that's only for war-steed cosmetics. Hope that helps :)

  4. I was surprised to find the Caparison only costs 10 coins. Snapped it up on characters that don't even have a warsteed yet!

    1. That's the first thing I did myself. I was surprised at how cheap it was, considering the steed is 40 tokens. It dyes a lovely shade of indigo if you only have the basic palette :)

  5. Are the Odogil robe and cloak bound to character? I ask because these items have blue-base tooltips, same as store-bought cosmetics. (Unlike other cosmetics from previous festivals). I missed this year's anniversary fest and have been checking the AH in hopes of snatching these up, but no listings for them so far. This further leads me to wonder whether this year's cosmetics are bound, thus necessitating players to each participate for themselves in order to obtain them. Hope I'm wrong though!

    1. The robe and cloak aren't bound at all. Don't worry about the blue background in the icon for those...believe me, that was my initial reaction too :) I don't know why they were colored like that. They're not lootbox cosmetics either. Maybe it's a new thing going forward for festivals.

Just to throw it out there for anybody else who is new to festivals or to LOTRO, any festival cosmetics that are bound are for your war-steed or those earned through quest rewards like the Sack of Presents from the Yule Festival.
