Scout of the Fold - Aerthain of Gladden

And here we are, another outfit attempting to reclaim pre-order cosmetics--this time, the Hauberk of the Westfold. I do love the looks these special cosmetics have, but I still can't stand the fact that they are 100% undyeable. So why did I choose to work with this particular piece this time? Of the three Rise of Isengard hauberks (click here to see all three sets), this was the easiest one to use. The red and green variants are tougher to coordinate due to a slightly muted color. For some reason, every time I've tried to use these pre-order pieces, something gets shoehorned into the outfit and it rarely looks normal. But, here's hoping! : )

I admit, it's an usual combination of pieces. It's certainly a practical outfit--comfortable, efficient, and not cumbersome--but it took a long time to make. The biggest obstacle I encountered was matching the brown in the inner layer of the hauberk...but it certainly was a fun challenge. Believe it or not, it was the Town-saver's Shoulders that brought this ensemble together! If you look closely at them (the closeup below is probably easiest), the shoulders have this interesting gradient between sienna and a sort of burgundy-brown. That gradient gave me a little leeway, which opened up some options for the gloves and boots without pulling away from the dominant white in the outfit.

(My computer is never the greatest when it comes to the close-up shots...older gear always looks so pixelated)

I've learned that not every outfit needs a cape or cloak, but there have been times when it's necessary. Take this outfit for example. I had to add one since the shoulders didn't look right by themselves. To be more specific, I needed something to connect or bridge the gap between the pads. I had two choices that would work. I almost went with a white T8 crafted Cloak of the Mark, but the yellow trim didn't match the already existing brown tones. I instead opted for the default T8 crafted Eastemnet Cloak because the trim matched...and the navy blue in the cloak provided a bit of distinction.
