Slayer of the Sword-Halls

Here in the Sword-Halls of Dol Guldur, the forces of the Enemy train, overseen by the Champions of the Dark Lord. Many foes and friends have fallen in this bloodstained and corpse-ridden place, all unfortunate challengers in the Lieutenant's arena. Few have survived the assault brought forth by Dol Guldur, and Aerthain was one of them. The fights were rigorous and and the attacks of the enemy swift. His courage was  tested and his wits sharpened within these blacked walls. Waves of orcs, goblins, and evil creatures were either run through by the spear tightly gripped in his hand or hewn down by the sword carried at his side. His victory had been granted begrudgingly by the Lieutenant, who had observed the battle and refused to expend  further resources on Aerthain. In his heart, Aerthain knew that this was only a temporary victory, for the Enemy would certain redouble it's efforts. A single man could only do so much...

And here a couple pieces from the awesome looking heavy Barad Guldur armor! These pieces certainly are difficult to color and coordinate if you don't use black or colors that compliment the teal portions of the armor. It's shame that teal doesn't exist as a dye color...it would certainly make working with the new BG sets a tad easier. It's been ages since I've made a dark outfit, so I settled with a surprisingly fun combination of black and greys to bring out the silvery chain mail in both the chest and leggings. I also discovered that your can really make the BG sets shine if you can successfully use gold-accented gear whenever you replace something from the full armor set.

Just a friendly reminder...the new Barad Guldur armor hasn't gone live yet! Perhaps on the 17th, it'll be available :)

    1. Me too :) The gold trims make certain pieces look all the more elegant.

  2. Wow, SMART use of that circlet! It looks like it really goes with everything else in the outfit rather than "Oh, I think this needs circlet. Hmm here's one I guess." Which is how a lot of circlets get used, not necessarily in the blogosphere but overall.

And the whole outfit itself is awesome. The splash of teal amongst the blacks and greys and gold trim really makes the outfit. Curious, what was your thought process picking those gloves?

    1. The three outfits using the new BG armor, two of which have been posted, were created on Bullroarer. I go there to mainly test the new content, but I like to do it in style. Sadly, only so many cosmetic pieces are easily and readily available. I didn't have time for crafting and the heavy 85 BG gauntlets were too generic-looking, so I turned to the other vendors in the skirmish camp and searched for gauntlets that jived with the rest of the pieces. Most of the others had either too much gold or too little gold and I wanted to keep complimenting the golden trim. Now that everything is live and I have access to my actual wardrobe, I plan on revisiting this and finding more suitable gloves!

And I completely agree with you that this circlet works exceptionally well here. I've fallen victim to the "oh, I could add a circlet here just to fill an empty slot" on numerous occasions, but this was an outfit that needed one to complete it. I don't like how you can't dye the Circlet of Men, and I haven't been successful in implementing it until now : )

    2. So my warden kinmate leader was like "Hey Arg, you wanna make me a new outfit?" and I was like "Dude, check this out." Just 'cause I liked it so much. So now he's running around with this outfit, though he made the decision to use the BG gloves and the Cloak of the Mallorn (which I see you've used on your champ's newest outfit).

By the way, the Warden Steed dyed black looks amazing with this outfit.

    3. That's great to hear! Glad to learn an outfit of mine was adopted and then adapted to someone's liking :)

I've been toying with the idea of getting the Warden Steed, but I don't know if I can spare the money for TP. It does look awesome though!
