When I sat down today, I was surprised to see this year's Spring Festival active. Unlike with Hobnanigans or the 2014 Anniversary Festival, this was simply dropped on us without hint of a date. However, if you had been watching the recent TTHTI (Take The Hobbits To Isengard) livestreams, Sapience had made a vague comment that this would arrive sometime at the end of May. Honestly, a date would have been nice to have prior to this preview of the cosmetic rewards. Oh well : )
But, while we're on the subject, the 2014 Spring Festival runs from today, May 20th, to June 3rd. I wasn't around last year for this event, so if you're interested in seeing the cosmetics from
2013 and
2012, please drop by Cosmetic LOTRO and say thank you to Hymne.
In the pictures below, you'll find I've dyed each piece
red through the dressing room panel to demonstrate how they'll dye. Beneath each picture, you'll find the name and token cost for each cosmetic. Sadly, we've got another reskinned robe and "tablecloth" steed.

Trellis-weave Robe (18 Spring Leaves) |

Trellis-weave Cloak (15 Spring Leaves) and the Hooded Trellis-weave Cloak (15 Spring Leaves) |

Steed of Spring Gardens (40 Spring Leaves) and the Trellis-weave Caparison (20 Spring Leaves) |
cloak and horse are nice, also the caparison dyes nicely... but that robe, it has a similar pattern like the one of Rift light sets... kinda meh XD
ReplyDeletethanks for the preview Nathrien!
You're welcome! Personally, I love the hoodless cloak. It's a wonderful pattern and easy on the eyes. However, the robe is a different story. I wasn't particularly fond of the LM or Minstrel robes from the Rift raid, so that's making me feel somewhat off-put about it.
DeleteGlad to hear the caparison dyes well...I haven't had a chance to sit down an run though the festival yet and get the war-steed cosmetics. I only had time to snap a few screenies and get them uploaded here :)
Thank you so much for your swiftness, Nathrien - I'm sitting here at my work-desk and nearly choked on my coffee when I saw the "SURPRISE!! Spring Festival is here!!" on Turbine's FB page. . . . but. .. Oh my . . . well, um, I'm extremely disappointed. I don't wish to sound like a spoiled brat, but that pattern is so ugly :( Any enthusiasm I have for this game is quickly getting snuffed out. Are the devs even trying anymore?
ReplyDeleteYou aren't the only one to have said that. Several players have been making their opinions known on the LOTRO forums. Personally, I like the cloak. The rest? Not so much. I think it's reasonable to assume that the pattern for the Robe of the Wandering Bard was rehashed and embellished a bit. I do wish they did a better job with coding the dyeable portions...then maybe the robe would be a bit more visually appealing.
DeleteI just found this site and it's fantastic! I love your dynamic posing - really gives me some great ideas.
ReplyDeleteNot of fan of the "cut and paste" robe/cloak/blanket that seems to be Turbine's pattern of late. I don't know how I'd even work these in to my warden's wardrobe - I think orcs would just laugh if he would be caught dead wearing this.
New follower... great work Nathrien!
Thank you very much! Glad to have another fellow LOTRO blogger around : ) All the outfits here are ideas to share and adapt to each person's liking. I might not have much in the way of combat outfits, but you'll see some from time to time.
DeleteI'm hoping that the Spring Festival brought the end of the robe and blanket cycle and that the Summer Festival will bring us the dresses and tunics again. It could have very well been a year-long theme. My biggest gripe with the old-style robes is the base skin...it never feels right on non-caster classes unless RPing or attending casual events. I can't even picture riding into combat wearing the one featured here! XD
