Kingsfell Footpad

foot·pad [noun] a highwayman that operates on foot rather than on horseback

This is the first time I've ever used this mask, the Potent Skirmish Helm of the Mark in an outfit. It was also the first piece in this appearance. Typically, when I go through the outfitting process, the first piece is often the first to go. However, because I'm continuing my "mask challenge," it had to stay. It's not exactly the easiest one to use, as the piece itself is primarily colored umber and only the strip that runs across the top dyes.

At the time, I had no clue what I wanted to create. The vague idea for a "medium armor outfit" was where I started. Not having a goal in mind, I let the process happen organically. I remember swapping back and forth between my cosmetic storage alts (I have five of them) while using the ItemTreasury plugin to keep track of what I liked. This is another case where I made two distinct appearances while working with that mask.

And what do I have for the first outfit? Dark colors. Worn or tattered clothing. Leathers. A bandit's outfit. The simple swords and bow drive the concept home. I don't know about you, but I wouldn't want to be caught on the open road by this guy.

I'm glad this outfit revives some of the gorgeous and versatile crafted items released with Riders of Rohan, back in 2012. The shoulders and gloves were popular across the dozens of outfitting blogs that existed back then. I miss those days, the Golden Age of LOTRO blogs. Anybody else recall how many wonderful creators we had back then and all the various takes on certain gear combinations?
